Our History
For 14 years, we’ve been serving the military community. We know military children serve too. Their needs are unique, and they deserve academic support built just for them.
Valor Tutoring is a local response to a local need. Designed with the same heart and mission as Children of Valor, our parent organization, it fills the gap that few others can: providing flexible, expert-led tutoring to military-connected students right here in our community.

Valor Tutoring is a specialized initiative within Children of Valor, led by longtime educator and advocate Jamie Bando.

Program Director
Jamie is a dedicated Intervention Specialist and Philanthropist with over 20 years of experience educating students with mild to intensive disabilities.
She is honored to now, as the Director of Valor Tutoring, be able to provide for the children of those who continue to protect our freedom. She is passionate about providing the best in person tutoring for our children of military families. She strives to provide equity for tutoring, is a strong advocate, and is known for looking at students’ abilities, not disability. As a former board member, she is aware of the educational gaps our military children face and uses her years of experience in public education and connections in her community to close those gaps.

If your tutor needs to cancel, we’ll notify you immediately and work to reschedule the session at a time that works best for you.
Just give us a heads up with at least 24 hours’ notice. We’ll help you reschedule; no penalty, no stress.
Our tutors are local, highly qualified professionals who undergo fingerprinting and background checks. Many are licensed teachers who may already work in your child’s school, dedicating their time to helping your student succeed.
We take into account your child’s location, academic needs, personality, availability, and learning style to pair them with a tutor who’s the best fit.
